Linger 03:34
Are you somewhere out there Too, gazing at the moon Isn’t it something when its Light speaks to you Sometimes I hear The words you can’t say It tells me there’s something That Keeps you away Yet keeps me Lingering in your mind The world changes around us But we just linger Through wars and seasons we run But we still linger It’s so tempting to climb that fence To see if you’d finally relent But there’s a solace despite that wall Cause we still linger Are you somewhere out there Still, running up that hill Don’t you ever tire of Holding back the way you feel So much in your way And nothing to bind us Only the wonder we’ve put behind us Why do we linger The world changes around us But we just linger Through wars and seasons we run But we still linger It’s so tempting to climb that fence To see if you’d finally relent But there’s a solace despite that wall Cause we still linger Somewhere out there you are still Running up that hill We never got off the ground But still, we were something real You prefer to keep your distance As I linger in your mind I pretend I don’t feel a thing As you linger in my mind

Fragile 03:30
I reached out to see how you’ve been After such a long time missing, after disappearing You stammered your way through your politeness but found your words and filled me in like this, “Like, yeah life’s been great, yeah, pretty good, but, don’t wanna say this but I think I should…” You went on To tell me you have somebody I’m gasping for air, my insides dividing I murmured, “OK,” to everything All awhile our memories And every word you said Washed away my sense of closure, Tore right through the threads I’m still fragile I’m still fragile And that’s okay, tomorrow’s another day So how do you prevail when the one Who has your heart just wants a little fun How does one find meaning in the lesson How does one recover from rejection Do you pray, or beg them to stay Yell at them, “Fuck you for leaving this way!” Burn all our bridges and live in that strife Silently as you live your life There are moments when the hurt Awakens to haunt me again And I know it’s all part of growth I will stumble at times cause I’m still fragile I’m still fragile And that’s okay, tomorrow’s another day A heart that still hurts Is a heart that feels The heart that feels Is a heart that’s still alive Most days I’m fine Leaving it all behind But sometimes old feelings Remind me that I’m still fragile I’m still fragile And that’s okay, tomorrow’s another day I have days when I’m not so strong When I’m thrown right back to the start But nothing can ravage this spirit of mine I’ll be solid somewhere down the line And that’s okay, tomorrow’s another day

May 03:18
Spring is back, brighter days A new beginning lurks Yet something stirs, bittersweet Reminders of where we were On this very day a year ago When we met and spent 7 hours alone You were so intrigued, couldn’t look away It all seemed hazy through the winter days but now Here comes May Didn’t know you for long but damn you were wrong To fall away You had your reasons so I let you fade away Now I’m nostalgic in May In May I walk past the pizza shop Where I first saw you and time stopped Anticipation rattled our nerves Intensely attracted, it felt like a curse I go on my run through the park The sweet summer breeze just suddenly sparks The memory of our drive upstate The road seemed symbolic of the start of something great but Here comes May Didn’t know you for long but damn you were wrong To fall away You had your reasons so I let you fade away Now I’m nostalgic in May In May The way the sun is setting ahead Takes me back to last year when It was August, something changed I gave up and the fall came

Great Deep 04:41
I can feel you miles away drowning in your pond Of insecurity and rain Cause its been so long Since you’ve looked into the eyes Of someone who needs you Breathes deep your every word And utterly completes you I light a candle for you And pray for your return Ask God to lead you back Cause I can’t find the words To break through your palace wall And make you clearly see It’s safe to take my hand and fall With me in that great deep Let me taste your bitter sadness I’ll Make it my very own Let me hold your fearful heart And give you mine of gold I see something on the horizon Like I’ve never known We were destined to find each other And make a world of our own I light a candle for you And pray for your return Ask God to lead you back Cause I can’t find the words To break through your palace wall And make you clearly see It’s safe to take my hand and fall With me in that great deep

about

'Great Deep' is the sophomore EP from American singer-songwriter Marian Renta. It explores themes of unrequited romance, longing, and nostalgia. Renta toils with these themes through storytelling and a reminiscent style of songwriting. 'Great Deep' consists of four songs, all of which were written and produced by Renta in various tempos and styles. Most of the songs are composed in a minor key, and feature Renta on piano throughout. 'Great Deep' is a genre-varied collection of Indie pop, Rock, and R&B, and Renta's vocals are performed in a mezzo-soprano tessitura.
